Radical Transverse Hepatectomy for Advanced.

Abstract
|

|
Gallbladder carcinoma is relatively rare and generally has a poor prognosis in spite of various treatment modalities. There are no symptoms in the early stages of this tumors, and it is already too advanced to resect curatively when diagnosed.
Early
invasion to the hepatic hilum also makes a radical resection difficult. However, there are some recent reports that radical surgery can improve long-term survival in gallbladder cancer. We experienced two cases of radical hepatectomy including
Couinaud's segment IV+V+VI (transverse hepatectomy) for gallbladder carcinoma, stage IV, with liver metastasis. The rational for performing of this procedure are discussed.
